Rebalancing community needs and the right to sell alcohol.

Community leaders for enforcement, accountability, and responsibility in alcohol licensing

We are frustrated by the imbalance between community needs and the right to sell alcohol. Formed to represent the needs of residents, CLEAR will advocate for a modernized application process, improved specificity in code, effective enforcement tools, loophole closure, and an expanded NPU role.

Our voice is that of the residential community - tired of the egregious violations that often lead to dangerous public safety and nuisance issues in our neighborhoods.

Our voice is that of the community leaders - struggling to provide thorough review and highlight violators in a process that is antiquated, lacks transparency and provides limited community authority.

Our city is growing and that is exciting. The time is now to modernize and strengthen our licensing policies to address today’s challenges with an eye on tomorrow’s demands.

Watch an overview of the how, why, when and what of alcohol licensing reform.

“Together, through intentional collaboration, we can modernize alcohol licensing in Atlanta in a meaningful way for the first time in over a decade.  We want a framework that allows businesses to be successful and communities to thrive safely.  These are not mutually exclusive.”
